Layered forms and suspended fragments hold a moment of psychological stillness. Beneath the calm surface, tension gathers through buried gestures, fractured space, and the off-the-hook phone—suggesting memory, interruption, and what remains unresolved. I use layered abstraction and recurring objects to explore the psychological space where presence shifts into absence. The phone functions as both connective device and emotional trigger—an object that carries memory, interruption, anticipation, and loss. The Pause Between is part of a series, where these works begin with visual clarity: Yet beneath that surface, accumulated marks, obscured forms, and unstable spatial relationships reveal what is concealed within the moment itself. I am interested in the residue that remains after contact—the silence after a call, the body implied through trace, the tension held in stillness. Through excavation of paint, gesture, and recurring motif, the work asks viewers to sense what lies beneath the visible: what is repressed, remembered, or just beginning to emerge.

Materials

Acrylic, collage, drawing tools are used in my paintings, including charcoal, pastel, markers. Collage is from found materials and sometimes as in this painting I use elements from my actual palette. All of the edges are painted to bring the painting itself to the sides, top and bottom, so no frame is needed.
