Hello, I'm TyCaulfield.
I'm an Intuitive Abstract Artist with a focus on natural, up-cycled materials. I have painted over 75 pieces in the last 10 years and have exhibited this year at UCI's Annual Art History Association Exhibit in May and am also on Exhibit at the Athenaeum Library in La Jolla unitil 10-18-25. I acquire used plywood destined for the landfill or burning. I put it on an easel, begin to outline it and let it tell me what it is and, how it should be painted. The wood shows me a vision of what its various components are saying. Because I use plywood as the base and because the wood has been manipulated by humans, having both grain and scars, each piece tells a unique story that I try and tell. It's a small collaboration between nature and me. No two pieces of wood are the same. None of my paintings are duplicates. Each is unique.
