Hello, I'm Theo D..

I'm a Southern California-based artist and designer. My work explores themes of identity​,​ depression​,​ and the tension between human expression and machine-made perfection. I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the San Bernardino mountains. My early years were shaped by undiagnosed ADHD​,​ depression​,​ and a rocky path through the education system​,​ which eventually led me to be homeschooled through high school. I studied graphic design and photography at Cal State San Bernardino​,​ where I co-founded Dotphotozine​,​ a publication highlighting student photography. For over 15 years​,​ I've worked as a graphic designer while continuing to develop my personal art practice. Lately​,​ I've returned to making collage and mixed media work that deals with the emptiness of depression​,​ the instinct to disappear​,​ and the strange friction between human creativity and AI. I work from home in Oceanside​,​ using analog and digital tools to explore what it means to make art in a world overwhelmed by images.
