Hello, I'm artsykt.
I am an avid cyclist of over 35 years and a former premed student. Regarding my figure & machinery exploration, I have a great appreciation for the body as a machine, and how living things are put together. Artistically, I have always found a beauty in well-crafted machinery, and love conjuring unexpected combinations of organic entities with metal and machinery. Regarding my other drawings, mixed media pieces and paintings, I am intrigued by line, light, texture and color, and am most interested in using watercolor as I love that it is unpredictable. I find the most interesting things happen in my painting when “mistakes” occur- unplanned pigment/color reactions that I will never be able to duplicate. I work primarily in watercolor, but also love collage, drawing, mixed media, acrylic & more. I gravitate toward creating human figures & portraits, animals and bicycle-themed work, in an organic, dynamic and non-photorealistic manner. I often combine people & animals with mechanical elements, and enjoy adding humorous elements in many of my pieces. I love creating custom work for clients & welcome commissions of all sorts. Background: I am originally from western Massachusetts, where I first began to ride bikes and pursue art. After attending UVM as a premed student and Savannah College of Art & Design as an illustration major, I earned my BFA in painting from The University of Massachusetts, Amherst. I currently live in Vista, California, and am the Entertainment Senior Design Manager at The Upper Deck Company- there I am involved in graphic design of trading cards and games, packaging and marketing graphics. I am an avid cyclist & yogini and love to spend time exercising & being outdoors.
