Hello, I'm artsykt.

I am an avid cyclist of over 35 years and a former premed student. Regarding my figure & machinery exploration​,​ I have a great appreciation for the body as a machine​,​ and how living things are put together. Artistically​,​ I have always found a beauty in well-crafted machinery​,​ and love conjuring unexpected combinations of organic entities with metal and machinery. Regarding my other drawings​,​ mixed media pieces and paintings​,​ I am intrigued by line​,​ light​,​ texture and color​,​ and am most interested in using watercolor as I love that it is unpredictable. I find the most interesting things happen in my painting when “mistakes” occur- unplanned pigment​/​color reactions that I will never be able to duplicate. I work primarily in watercolor​,​ but also love collage​,​ drawing​,​ mixed media​,​ acrylic & more. I gravitate toward creating human figures & portraits​,​ animals and bicycle-themed work​,​ in an organic​,​ dynamic and non-photorealistic manner. I often combine people & animals with mechanical elements​,​ and enjoy adding humorous elements in many of my pieces. I love creating custom work for clients & welcome commissions of all sorts. Background: I am originally from western Massachusetts​,​ where I first began to ride bikes and pursue art. After attending UVM as a premed student and Savannah College of Art & Design as an illustration major​,​ I earned my BFA in painting from The University of Massachusetts​,​ Amherst. I currently live in Vista​,​ California​,​ and am the Entertainment Senior Design Manager at The Upper Deck Company- there I am involved in graphic design of trading cards and games​,​ packaging and marketing graphics. I am an avid cyclist & yogini and love to spend time exercising & being outdoors.
