Hello, I'm Judy Knott.
Judy Knott is a self-taught artist who became interested in creating her own artwork while employed full-time as a data analyst and program trainer in the medical field. Upon retiring she started studying in earnest and went on to receive her Master Artist Certification from Sacramento Fine Arts Center in 2016. She has shown her work at the Crocker Art Museum, Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, Museum of Northern California Arts and Art Expo Dallas. She has built her resume by competing in, and winning awards in both local, national, and international art shows. In 2022 she had her work accepted into the prestigious Crocker Kingsley bi annual art show. Her more representational artwork has been displayed at the Edward Montgomery Art Gallery in Carmel-by-the-Sea and at Fire and Rain Gallery in Folsom California. She has had her art purchased by Kaiser Permanente and UC Davis. She has also participated in public art programs and is displaying her art on utility boxes in Sacramento and Elk Grove. Judy started focusing on mixed media while transitioning from representational to abstract art. Her explorations have her using paper, fabric, thread, and cardboard to create unique pieces. Those pieces show a rich balance of color, texture and depth. Her artwork has been called painterly, inventive, fun and colorful, with a little wit thrown in on the side. Her desire is to have fun creating her art and for those who see it to feel a sense of joy and connection. She hopes viewers will do the same thing she does when she finishes a painting—that is to smile.
