Hello, I'm Nicholas Leeper.
Nicholas Kerestan Leeper, SJ (b. 1992, New Jersey, USA) is a contemporary iconographer who creates Pop Icons, a body of work that blends traditional religious symbolism with contemporary visual culture. His work explores idolatry within capitalistic societies and how the transcendent is made present through what Pseudo-Dionysius calls “dissimilar similarities” or “dissemblance”, where symbols point toward the ineffable by means of analogy rather than direct representation. Leeper holds a Master's in Philosophy from Saint Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri, USA. He has had works displayed at a variety of venues, including bodegas, halfway homes, donut shops, and conventional art galleries. His work is in a variety of private collections in the United States. Leeper currently lives and works in Manhattan, New York, USA.
