Hello, I'm Debbie Ranniger.

With my art I seek to capture moments of joy, surprise, sadness, uncertainty, happiness, cultural confusion, beauty, struggle, pride, focus, and other fleeting experiences in life and nature. I work primarily in pencil, oil pastel, watercolor and pen. I have exhibited and sold my art while working full time in various positions including public administrator, fund developer and executive director of an international non-profit. After marriage, my signature changed so some earlier work was under the name Cornell. I hold degrees in art, landscape architecture, and a master’s degree and PhD in small group and organizational communication. Now retired, I am working exclusively on my art. I have exhibited and sold at various venues including The Northwest Pastel Society, the cities of Renton, Kent, and Federal Way, Washington, Graphite Gallery, Artco Framing and Gallery, COVET Art Gallery, Tacoma Frame Makers, Tacoma Art in the Armory, Blaine Art Gallery, The Naturalist Gallery, BOAPS Spring and Summer 2026, Gallerium Life Forms exhibition, Here and Now exhibition, Exhibizone Eyes 2026 and Kingdom Animalia 2026, Artistonish magazine #68 and #69, and Pierce College Art Gallery Tacoma Drawing Group Exhibition 2026. I especially enjoy doing custom watercolor pet portraits. I have found that these portraits bring great joy to people and often help to ease grief, when the portrait is commemorative.
