Surreal​/​ Fantasy Artist using acrylic on canvas. Using paint and canvas as my preferred materials​,​ or perhaps pencil and paper​,​ to build visual images by hammering various sketches together and then cutting in new parts and pieces and allowing the images to evolve and begin to show themselves. Always starting with a plan​,​ but then empowering the images to take me where they want​,​ as the final image is almost always different than the plan that it began with. When done​,​ the canvas can be seen as a window through which an observer can see a piece of a world that they could not see out of any other window they look. Through this window they can leave​,​ even if briefly their real world​,​ and visit another place. This new world may raise questions​,​ like where is this place? Or​,​ what is going on over there? What are the characters doing or saying to each other? And the viewer will begin to piece together a story as they answer these questions. From the viewer’s story rises the message in the image; one that is often very personal to the viewer. Oh sure​,​ part of the plan that begins the building process contains an intended message. However​,​ it will never be as relevant​,​ or as important as the message that the viewer takes from the observation of the scene before them at that moment. Only art can give this to each of us.
