Hello, I'm Erik.
My Journey of Inspiration I grew up in the breathtaking landscapes of the Northwest United States, where the inherent beauty of natural and urban landscapes first captured my imagination. Over the years, my curiosity led me to explore art formally at the University of Washington and moreover, self-guided exploration and learning. I’ve always been fascinated by the intersections of spirituality, governance, and science, and how they shape our lives and values. This perspective shapes my work, as I strive to capture life’s rich yet fleeting moments. Work Overview While living and working in The Netherlands in 2009, I began showing my early abstract work in galleries and various public settings. Moving back to the US in 2015, I continued to focus on the elements that inspired me. Commission requests involving man-made objects forced me to expand both my interest and skills resulting in my most recent focus on abstract and philosophical surrealism. My work has been a fairly even divide between commissions and my own studio work that I’ve exhibited both in the US and Europe. A Global Perspective Today, I divide my time between Europe and North America, drawing endless inspiration from the diverse cultures, histories, and landscapes I encounter. Whether I’m working on a commissioned piece or exploring a new concept for my own portfolio, my art reflects the interplay between creativity and the human experience. It’s my way of navigating and celebrating the world around us.
