I am a self-taught traditional oil painter with 25 years of experience. I have lately been drawn to Still Life: a genre I feel is overlooked in contemporary art compared to its elevated status in previous artistic movements. A Still Life allows viewers to see themselves and their daily experiences reflected in the rendering of familiar, beloved objects. Over the past few years I have taken a hyperrealistic approach to depictions of everyday food items. Not elaborate meals whose aesthetic merit is immediately recognized, but subjects that are often imperfect or even naive​/​amateurish. A reheated slice of pizza, a melting ice cream cone. Foods that connect with emotions, memory, the pulse of everyday life.
