Hello, I'm Jenee Gill.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look around! I am an analog collage artist based in Santa Cruz, CA who only recently came to this practice after decades as an arts administrator, cranky punk, and fun mom, with the occasional side hustle as an actor. The COVID lockdown ultimately led to me destroying my large collection of art books and old magazines with my trusty scissors & Exacto knife ....and well, now here we are. I am interested in creating unexpected, often humorous juxtapositions of images, utilizing a mix of vintage ephemera, punk and graffiti art, and emphasizing bright colors and contrast. I am highly influenced by (and often utilize) the work of Barbara Kruger, Judy Chicago, street artists like Retna and Rigo, as well as Russian Constructivism, WPA-era graphics, mid-20th century advertising & design, and stage director Robert Wilson’s Theatre of Images. In my short art career I've so far participated in multiple years of Santa Cruz Open Studios, created commissioned pieces, exhibited locally, and not-so-officially exhibited work via wheatpasting in SF. I'm up for whatever's next!
