Shallow Waters

In Southern California, as in a lot of areas, we often experience severe droughts. In this colorful piece I wanted to depict a pond or a lake that has practically dried up with just pockets of pools remaining until the life-giving rains arrive. Areas of aqua and blues represent the water while other colors are what life remains and what is revealed when the water is gone -fauna, flora, insects, and grasses clinging to life. I used many techniques in this multicolored piece - pallet knife, gestural brushstrokes, dripping and splattered drops of paint. I literally flung paint at the canvas to create the splattered drops of paint. This work is painted on all sides and requires no framing. A free hanging kit is included with the purchase.
