One Hundred Years X

The large painting is an abstract, mixed-media style composition dominated by overlapping geometric and organic shapes. Muted earth tones—rust, ochre, slate blue, charcoal, and warm beige—are layered in translucent blocks and sweeping diagonal strokes. I am inspired by textile patterns, especially the crazy quilts of the late nineteenth century. I come from a family of makers and I credit my paternal grandmother with passing her expertise in working with patterns as a seamstress to me.
