Using the lost wax kiln casting method, this piece was originally created in clay. An initial mould was created to pour a wax casting. After refining the wax, the refractory mould was built around it. Into that mould the glass was cast; taking days to melt the glass into the mould and over a week to slowly cool down. The patina was applied using copper and acids to create a finish reminiscent of antiquities. If you enjoy something that looks like it was discovered in an archeological dig, this might be for you! This piece is best viewed on a pedestal or high table. There is a man on one side intertwined with a woman on the opposite side.
