Lateral Move 2
Part of my sculpture series entitled Time and Space, Lateral move is about consciousness and human experience. At times we move forward or backward but often we experience shifts that seem to go nowhere. This sculpture is solid borosilicate art glass. Using the lost wax kiln casting method, this piece was originally created in clay. An initial mould was created to pour a wax casting. After refining the wax, the refractory mould was built around it. Into that mould the glass was cast. The color is called rhubarb and it looks different under different types of light, sometimes showing green undertones. I cast this piece once in glass and once in bronze, so two versions exist.
