Jaguar Dreaming

I am an artist and writer who has published scholarly and personal essays in various collections and journals, and am now spending more time making collages that celebrate the natural world in dreams, which suggest compositions that are nonlinear, intuitive. In my work, I erase the separation between humans and animals and, via imagination and empathy, place people in the position of seeing what an animal sees—even if it’s just a glimpse. The instinct of the natural world blends with the imagination. As a beginning artist, I explore answers to the question of how we can creatively make meaning from inner pain. Inside the joy that my art expresses is a longing to be closer to animals that may be disappearing or do not show themselves to humans.
