Through my Reality Check series, I explore the convergence of physical and digital realms, returning to the imaginative lens of childhood when everyday spaces could reveal portals to other worlds. Each image reimagines familiar streetscapes through halftones, pixelated deconstruction, and other digital manipulations that uncover hidden layers and overlooked details. In doing so, the works invite viewers to pause, reflect on the beauty and complexity of the ordinary, and reconnect with their sense of wonder. In Reality Check II, neon pathways unfold across a quiet suburban street like luminous chalk drawings, while shadows of natural greens frame the scene. These chromatic interventions suspend the moment between documentation and imagination, capturing both the physical space and its emotional, nostalgic resonance in our collective memory. The acrylic block presentation adds crucial dimensionality—its reflective surface bending light and perspective to create subtle illusions that echo digital filtering. This tangible form challenges the ephemeral nature of screen-based manipulation, inviting physical engagement with what typically exists only in pixels.
