Shirley Chisholm: Trailblazer
Shirley Chisholm: First Black Congresswoman: The concept of my show is to bring important historical figures into the present. I will have several oil paintings depicting these individuals wearing modern eyeglasses. Each figure had to overcome extraordinary odds while leaving an undeniable imprint on the world that is still felt today. Since each of these figures has had such a lasting impact, I want to bring them forward into the modern era, where their presence is still felt. I believe eyeglasses are a unique and interesting way to do so, as they can be a central fixture on a face to immediately grab the observer’s attention.
