Bipolar Cell
The human retina consists of six different layers, each containing numerous neuronal cell types. Bipolar cells are neurons that receive input from either Rod or Cone cells. The Bipolar cells produce graded potentials as information that they pass on to other cell types such as retinal ganglions cells or amacrine cells. The bipolar cell can provide excitatory or inhibitory signaling that leads to a system of on or off receptor fields.
