Hello, I'm Elizabeth Janss.
Elizabeth Janss sculpts biological structures that traditionally are only observed and discussed in the scientific context. The sculptures may seem abstract in nature, but they draw upon actual neurons, tissues, and organs, exploring the realm of perception and emotion as they manifest in physical form. Elizabeth currently works in developmental neuroscience at Cedars Sinai Hospital as a compliment to her ceramic practice. She has received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in in neuroscience from UPenn, as well as a law degree from UC Hastings. When not creating art or working in the lab, Elizabeth spends time with her three children, tiny dog named Zeus, giant horse named Gigi, and the cuddliest cat named Diesel.
