One Hundred Years XII

The large painting on gallery-wrapped canvas is an abstract, mixed-media style composition dominated by overlapping geometric and organic shapes. Muted earth tones—rust, ochre, slate blue, charcoal, and warm beige—are layered in translucent blocks and sweeping diagonal strokes. The influence of typography with bold fonts is evident, however words are not spelled out. It is the graphic power of shape and pattern that I wanted to emphasize. This is part of my One Hundred Years Series that is informed by my love of crazy quilts and textiles.
