After the pandemic, many of us are still left with contagion fears and health anxiety. We are still faced with a number of contagious respiratory viruses, including COVID, RSV, flu and pneumonia. We're in constant self-protection mode. This is what inspired this artwork. I use symbolism in many of my art pieces. The sacred heart with the eye of God symbolizes protection. The grunge brown coloration of this piece represents contagion and illness. The Renaissance nun is masked to protect herself from the viruses in the air around her. The unique Nun image was made by the artist using AI, printed onto water-soluble paper, then transferred to polymer clay. After baking, the clay was hand-painted for enhancement. The dimensional flaming heart was made of molded polymer clay, a doll's eye, and Apoxie Sculpt then hand painted. Wood art board was covered in pre-printed paper collage decoupage on all visible sides. Comes ready to hang with picture wire and hardware fastened to back.
