Rose Mother
I painted this in honor of motherhood. When my own mother passed away five years ago, I had a dream in which she said to me that she would carry me and her “spiritual womb.” I found it a very comforting notion — that nurtured by her protective spirit, I would continue to grow and evolve and would someday emerge from that into the next realm once this life was over. The dream has stayed with me and was the inspiration for this painting. It began as a digital piece in which the roses were from photos of roses from her memorial service. This is now the painted version.
