The Flash

While I prefer riding on trains, I enjoy watching them go by just as much. As a kid in Orangeburg, New York, we lived in a house that sat right across the street from a busy railroad track. Surprisingly, I did not find it annoying as I initially thought I would. I found the sound of trains chugging along a bit soothing actually. I still do. In this image, I wanted to capture the movement of a train leaving the Santa Fe, New Mexico, station. I love the wall of blur with colors of gold, red, gray, purple, pink, and blue that flashes across as the train zooms by a wet sidewalk with puddles from a recent rainstorm. The sky is mostly blue with hints of orange. It was an energetic and invigorating moment.
