Hello, I'm Mike D'Amelio.
Mike D’Amelio, a visual artist and musician, was born and raised in New York and is currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area. D’Amelio is a graduate of SUNY Purchase College for Fine Arts and an up and coming abstract artist known for his neo-dada, expressionist style. He also just released an EP titled, Imposter, under the moniker, dadadamelio. My artwork confronts my trauma head on. Drawing from personal experiences, both challenging and inspiring, I also reflect outwardly and often will touch on social and political topics like women’s rights, BLM, Covid, and Jan.6. The world is a crazy place right now and I want to make sure I capture elements of that in my art. You can expect a wide range of brush strokes, bursts of color with lots of contrast all carefully masked and layered throughout my canvas. I like to work large format and I will use any medium and technique that feels right at the moment. I want each piece to have its own voice and not look like something you may have seen before. I often will spend a year or two around a theme like “Breathe” or “Imposter”. I want to directly engage my audience, inviting them into an intricate world that prompts you to confront your fears, explore your soul, and experience a profound emotional connection.
